Ipoh - Penang - Genting
Day 01.
It was 11th January, 5pm.
We begin our journey up North, 1st stop was Ipoh, the town which serves good nga choi kai and white coffee.
Had dinner at one of the famous restaurant for nga choi kai. With me sitting at the front passenger seat, you will never go wrong with roads, I assure you! What's with guys and ladies sense of direction?? [the whole journey to ss2 from puchong is not my fault, cause not my area! If I've been there done that thing, I can remember roads!!]

table for 7.

Day 02.
Had breakfast with Jason, dim sum it was. He brought us to this place somewhere near the hotel, which according to him, is slightly different from normal dim sum restaurants, and is majority patronized by people who went jogging etc.

I don't like the food. The different thing he mentioned is that in normal dim sum restaurants, waiter/waitresses will serve you by pushing carts. But in that particular restaurant in Penang, you have to grab your own trays and grab your own food at mini stalls.
We then went to a wholesaler to grab new stocks for Uncle. At the meantime, I was choosing my teddy bear. Yeapp, the one I mentioned earlier in my blog post. And since the Rat year is just around the corner, the toys wholesaler were selling CNY decorations too. Smart ass la.
Su, you see. Your Rat family!!

Then we headed to Nagore Place, for some ice kacang!! Last time, they were just along the streets. But now, with the grand opening of the new hawker building thing, everyone had to move in.

As you can see above, their ice kacang is really different. You either have it the classic way or with fruits!! You can choose from bananas, papayas, and mangoes, or you can have them all or dragon fruit [that's when they ran out of a certain fruit. happened to me]. Besides all the fruits, they do mix them with the original ingredients like my favourite a-t-a-p-c-h-i!!, kidney beans and all.
Nagore Place is also famous for its ancient buildings, apart from its good restaurants.

Since we were already in that area, we walked down the lane to have Nyonya food for lunch. Yea, dessert before lunch. Funny thing huh. We still ate though we were all full from ice kacang.

The inner deco.

the food.
you'll never go wrong with nyonya food.
I sort of influenced her to do "my" pose.

Sapu-ed lotsa of chocolates. Though made in Msia but who cares!! Nice will do la. Gosh, think of the fat-ness! *faints*
Not long after, we went to Kek Lok Si temple, a must visit place when you arrive in Penang.

Unfortunately, the upper level of the temple is under construction. They are now building the "house" for Kuan Yin's statue.

We even donated $$$$$ to the building. And for each donation of different amounts, the monk there will write your wishes/blessings for you on those thingy to be placed as the roof.

Then it was back to Gurney Drive Hawker's for dinner, this time at the roundabout.

I didn't get a chance to step foot on the beach and touch sea water. We were so packed this time around.
On our way out, we met Mr Potato's version of Choi San Yeh.
oh-chien.
big prawns, very generous.

But, unfortunately dad had a plane to catch the next morning so I went back home with him at about 11.30pm?? When he said he didn't wana wake up at 5am and rush to KL Sentral from Genting, the 3 ladies, mum, sis and I knew that instant that one of us MUST accompany him back home. So i went since I have nothing to do in Genting anymore [I admit I did shop there, again!!]. Luckily I went okayy or must have at least one person by his side cause it was so so dark, so so misty. You have to constantly use your wiper, wipe the windscreen with cloth. D-A-N-G-E-R-O-U-S. Though he was driving at a speed he always drive at broad day light, driving like that in the night plus mist plus no street lights plus poor headlights of the car, it was a roller coaster ride, just that it is free. And due to the wetness of the mist, I couldn't wind up my window until somewhere near the toll, which means outside air down hill for about 30minutes plus 20minutes of highway air. So not cool.
Next morning, woke dad up, made his daily dose of coffee and sent him off. He almost forgotten his PJs and toiletries. Haha. That's my daddy! And he's sick. Aawww...

table for 7.By the time we arrived in Penang, it was time for supper!! Checked in, drove to Gurney Drive for supper!! It's a corner coffee shop, somewhere near Gurney Hotel that side, not at the roundabout. They serve good oh-chien and char kuey teow.
Oh yea. This is the view from my hotel room. Stayed at Cititel Penang. Rooms are not bad. Good bed, very very comfy!! But bad piping systems. Bath tub gets flooded with water everytime you bathe. But good sea view though.

After cooling ourselves down from the burning heat from the sun with aircond system in our hotel rooms, aunt, mum and I took a 5 minutes walk from the hotel to Cheong Fatt Tze's mansion, my 3rd time there!! Boring is boring cause apparently they changed their narrator, but I love seeing all these ancient buildings. Big houses, cooling alleys. Aih...
Don't like the narrator. You could see that she is trying her very best to make the history entertaining but she just couldn't pull it off.

Then we went back to the other hawker at Gurney [1st supper place] for our 2nd last feast.

oh-chien.Day 03.
Walked to a nearby coffee shop as recommended by a lady working at the chocolate boutique the other day. Not bad!!
She told us, it is a must to try their lobak and char kuey teow! No regrets at all, really!!

big prawns, very generous. Most important is that it is cheap!! Not cheap compared to others but looking at the amount of ingredients and kuey teow a.k.a. quality, it is really worth paying slightly more, bout 50 cents??
We checked out and continued our journey to Genting Highlands. Oh and we stopped by Ipoh again for lunch. At Sg don't know what exit.
My aunt's room at Highlands has this magnificent view at night!! You could even see KL's lights from there!! Amazingly gorgeous. While ours at Resort wasn't so nice.
